چکیده

Abstract The existence of coral reefs in Muara Badak makes this ecosystem very attractive as an object research, especially reef fish. aim research is to determine the structure fish community Gusung Batu Lampe, Badak. A survey was carried out through scuba diving activities, using video belt transect method at 10 points. observed were identified genus level and analysis form diversity, uniformity, dominancy indexes. results showed that total, 3.699 individuals found consisting 61 genera from 23 families. diversity index shows stability, productivity high conditions. uniformity distribution between each moderately distributed had no particular genera.

Hierarchical drivers of reef-fish metacommunity structure.

Coral reefs are highly complex ecological systems, where multiple processes interact across scales in space and time to create assemblages of exceptionally high biodiversity. Despite the increasing frequency of hierarchically structured sampling programs used in coral-reef science, little progress has been made in quantifying the relative importance of processes operating across multiple scales...

Reef Fish Community Biomass and Trophic Structure Changes across Shallow to Upper-Mesophotic Reefs in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, Caribbean

Mesophotic coral ecosystems (MCEs; reefs 30-150m depth) are of increased research interest because of their potential role as depth refuges from many shallow reef threats. Yet few studies have identified patterns in fish species composition and trophic group structure between MCEs and their shallow counterparts. Here we explore reef fish species and biomass distributions across shallow to upper...

Invasive lionfish had no measurable effect on prey fish community structure across the Belizean Barrier Reef

Invasive lionfish are assumed to significantly affect Caribbean reef fish communities. However, evidence of lionfish effects on native reef fishes is based on uncontrolled observational studies or small-scale, unrepresentative experiments, with findings ranging from no effect to large effects on prey density and richness. Moreover, whether lionfish affect populations and communities of native r...

Restoration of a Temperate Reef: Effects on the Fish Community

The extraction of large boulders from coastal reefs for construction of harbours and coastal protection has led to habitat degradation for local fish populations through the destruction of cavernous reefs and changes in macroalgal cover resulting from a loss of substrate. The temperate reef at Læsø Trindel in Kattegat, Denmark, has now been re-established with the aim of restoring the reef’s hi...

Fishing degrades size structure of coral reef fish communities.

Fishing pressure on coral reef ecosystems has been frequently linked to reductions of large fishes and reef fish biomass. Associated impacts on overall community structure are, however, less clear. In size-structured aquatic ecosystems, fishing impacts are commonly quantified using size spectra, which describe the distribution of individual body sizes within a community. We examined the size sp...
